The positive crankcase ventilation system, or PCV, is a system that reduces the blow-by emissions coming from an engine. Blow-by emissions to the crankcase increase as the engine mileage increases, or as the cylinders and piston rings experience more wear.

The OBD II, or the “On-Board Diagnostic Systems” are systems that were created to diagnose problems in a car’s engine and control its functions. This kind of system for vehicles was created for the purpose of meeting the Environmental Protection Agency standards.

A regenerative braking system is incorporated into vehicles in order to recapture most of a vehicle’s kinetic energy. This energy is then converted into electricity that can be used to recharge the vehicle’s battery. Essentially, the purpose of this kind of system is to prevent energy from being wasted.

Electricity is defined as electrons flowing from one place to the other. Electrons are capable of flowing through any kind of material, but the ease of which it flows depends on the material it flows through. The measure of how easily electrons flow in a particular material is called resistance. The amount of electricity that is generated is referred to as Amps and the force, or ‘push’ of electricity is referred to as voltage. Voltage can also be described as a measure of energy for every unit of charge. Together, these three (resistance, amps, voltage) make basic electricity work.
